This is a six -week summer program at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Juniors A great opportunity for high-achieving low-income students to compete for admission to leading colleges through the Questbridge's College Prep Scholarship with opportunities for Juniors for full scholarships to college summer school programs at Emory, Harvard, Notre Dame, Penn, Stanford, or Yale; all expense paid college campuses; opportunity to attend a Questbridge College Admissions Conference at Yale or Stanford and more...go to www.questbridge.org for more information and details. Application is due by March 29,2010. OSU Medical Center-Summer Only High School Volunteer Program is now accepting applications until April 30th. Must be 16 yrs. of age, letter of recommendation, criminal background check, must commit to 25 hr in the summer, interview and training required. Students in Grades 9th, 10th, and 11th there are many terrific opportunities to explore this summer See Mrs. Hall in the lunchroom on Thursday or complete a request in the guidance office for Mrs. Hall to see you regarding summer opportunities such as: --Women in Engineering Program @ The University of Akron. This program for students entering grades 9 12 gives students the necessary knowledge, self-confidence and motivation to pursue a career in the exciting and diverse field of engineering. The program is June 13- 18 and applications are due March 31,2010. --There is a young writers workshop at Denison University held June 13-20 with applications due April 9th. --Hiram College has a series of summer academic experiences available: The Emerging Writers Workshop in V=Creative Nonfiction; The Hiram Genomics Academy; The High School Leadership Conference; and The Hiram Institute of Theatre with registration deadline of May 14th. --Mount Carmel College of Nursing sponsors Camp Mount Carmel: Health Care Adventures, which will be held the week of June 14-17 for student entering grades 9 12. The camp is designed to provide awareness of the career opportunities available in healthcare today. --OSU hosts multiple summer programs. Among them and Accounting Careers Awareness Program for minority students, an optometry careers program and M.D. Camp for under represented ethnicities. There is also a linguistics institute and a chance to study at Lake Erie. Sports
There will be a meeting for all girls interested in volleyball this coming Tuesday, March 23 at 2:40 in the teachers lounge. The new head coach will be there to talk about future activities. Please plan to attend.

The next meeting of Future Teachers will be Monday, March 21 after school in J04. We will be focusing a little on brain research and how it informs education. All future teachers and peer collaborators are welcome for the 45 minute meeting. See you then!
Miscellaneous
A memory that we all share of Mrs. Davis was of the high heels worn on a daily basis throughout her career. "Be Healed" is a way for Scioto students and staff to honor her memory through art. It will be your personal artistic interpretation of Mrs. Davis using the theme of her high heels. If interested, please attend a brief informational meeting, today, March 23 at 2:30 p.m. in room C4 or see Mrs. Dennison. Information sheets are available in the main office.
